Maria is a feminine given name. It is given in many languages influenced by Latin Christianity. ... Maria (Μαρία) is a form of the name used in the New Testament, standing alongside Mariam Μαριάμ. It reflects the Syro-Aramaic name Maryam, which is in turn derived from the Biblical Hebrew name Miriam. Meaning of Cintia: "moon goddess or, woman from Kynthos" Origin of Cintia: Greek.
My parents named María in honor of the Virgin. My mom chose Cintia as my middle name because of the principal character of a soap opera whose name was Cindy. However, when I was born, it was not allow to use foreign names in the Register where I was registered so she named me Cintia. I go by my middle name Cintia because I'm from Argentina where almost all females are named María as a first name. Therefore, we all use our middle name rather than our first name.
