My name was chosen jointly by both of my parents. I secretly believe it was my mother's favorite because she loved Christmas so much. And she instilled that Christmas spirit in me!
My name literally means 'Christ-bearer' - someone who carries Christ. This name derives from St. Christopher, patron saint of travelers, who is said to have carried the Christ child across a river. I think it fits me because I love to travel!
No one actually calls me Christopher except for a few people. My mother did - but only when she was angry! My uncle does to this day. My grandfather didn't want me to be named Christopher because people might call me Chrissy. No one ever called me that - thankfully - EXCEPT for him! One last 'story' about my name - I hate to be called "Weiler". That takes me back to the uncoordinated kid in gym class who was always viewed as 'less than.' I prefer to be called Dr. Weiler by my students, rather than just 'Weiler.'
