One of the earliest uses of Dorian as a first name was in Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray, which also happens to be one of my favorite novels. In regards to my middle name, Rhea was a Titaness, who was known as the mother of the Olympian gods.
Dorian is a name of Greek origins, but there are some debates over its meaning. However, one meaning is "child of the sea." Rhea is also a name of Greek origins, and it means "flowing stream."
As a part of my transition, I changed my full name, including my surname, and I honor all parts of this new name. While you may read my legal first name (i.e. Dorian) in email signatures or conference programs, I exclusively use my middle name, Rhea, in all everyday interactions.
